Frequently asked questions
Windows shows a SmartScreen warning. Is it safe?
The installer is signed with Microsoft Azure Trusted Signing, and you can verify its SHA-256 on this page. New releases can briefly trigger SmartScreen until they build reputation. Click “More info”, check that the publisher reads AllofPDF, then choose “Run anyway”.
Is it really free?
Yes. Viewing, editing, conversion to 17 formats, OCR, redaction, compare and local AI are free, with no trial period, watermark or ads in the app.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Everything except the optional Cloud AI works without an internet connection. Local AI runs on your device. Private Mode goes further and turns off all network access, including update checks.
Are my documents uploaded anywhere?
No. Files are processed on your PC. The only exception is Cloud AI, which sends just the text you select to the AI provider — and only after you've switched it on.
Do I need the AI features?
No. The AI is optional. AllofPDF is a complete, fast PDF reader and editor without it.
Is there a portable version? How do updates work?
Yes. Besides the installer there is a portable ZIP that runs without installation or admin rights and keeps its settings next to the app, which is handy for USB drives and locked-down PCs. The installed version downloads signed updates quietly in the background and installs them only after you confirm. Updates come only from our servers and their signature is verified before they are applied. In Private Mode it does not even check for updates.
